On Thursday, May 28, The Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa hosted the 2015 edition of the Youth Recognition Ceremony, an evening dedicated to celebrating the tremendous accomplishments of our youth. Celebrating 20 years of the Dare to Dream Bursary Program, the ceremony saw 35 young adults receive bursaries to put towards their post-secondary education, adding to the growing total of $2 million distributed to over 750 youths.
The evening’s superhero theme was displayed through the décor, the performers, and the presentation of awards. Our super-youth even received a special message from CASO’s Executive Director Barbara MacKinnon, from a “land far far away,” reminding them that “with great power comes great responsibility.” As the ceremony unfolded and recognition was given for academic, humanitarian, artistic and personal achievements, it became clear that these young adults are more than ready to meet this responsibility head on.
