HELP KIDS FEEL CONFIDENT WHEN THEY GO BACK TO SCHOOL
HELP KIDS FEEL CONFIDENT WHEN THEY GO BACK TO SCHOOL
They need you this school year, more than ever!
The Children’s Aid Foundation of Ottawa is hosting a Back-to-School Drive this summer to alleviate some of the costs for families involved with The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa (CASO).
And we need your help to reach our goal of providing 200 backpacks to kids in need.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, families continue to overcome challenges such as poverty, unemployment, ill health, domestic violence, mental health issues, or caring for a child who has serious physical, emotional, or developmental difficulties.
Families involved with CASO have expressed an increased need for back-to-school drive support this year.
Caregivers are finding it difficult to pay their day-to-day bills.
Youth and racialized people are having a hard time returning to the workforce.
They are no longer able to afford necessities such as food, toiletries, housing, gas, and transportation.
And many new families have fallen deeper into debt.
This is in addition to families living below the poverty line pre-Covid-19.
As a part of the Ottawa community, we are asking you to help fill 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to meet the needs of vulnerable children and youth in our community.
For $25 we kindly ask you to consider sponsoring a backpack filled with the following essential items:
- Lunch bags
- Pencil cases
- Scientific calculators
- Water bottles
- Pencil crayons, crayons, markers, erasers
- Lined paper, binders, duotangs
- Pencils, pens, rulers
You can provide at-risk children and youth with the resources they need to transform their lives for a brighter future.
You can give confidence to kids as they head back to school this September.
Please consider sponsoring a backpack or two.

Your kindness will make a difference
Thank you so much for the backpack and new school supplies. I’m so excited to go back to school now!
I’m really thankful to have received the backpack. It had lots of really useful supplies I didn’t have to buy! There were a couple of books about Ethan’s heritage in the bag-which is cool!I enjoyed reading those to him. Thanks again from both Ethan and myself. It has been really helpful.
These kids absolutely loved their backpacks. They said, “It feels like Christmas morning!”They were overwhelmed with everything, and I was overwhelmed watching them open everything.
The Lewandowski children were overwhelmed by the generosity and could not believe they were for them. They loved the notebooks and the water bottles and especially the new pens.
